Hopkins Public Schools: Three Hopkins Students Win Lego League Robotics Competition

The team will advance to the State Tournament which will take place in February.

North Junior High seventh grader Lucian Pier and Tanglen Elementary sixth graders Evelyn Cameron and Gavin Ferro won the Champion’s Award and Robot Performance Award at the Lego League Robotics Competition on December 5.

The team was evaluated based on five categories including robot design and build, robot programming, robot performance on a timed challenge mat, core values, and an innovation project.

The scholars dressed in 1920s attire to highlight their team name, The Great Gatsbys. During the competition, they encouraged each other with Gatsby themed signs with phrases like “this team is the cat’s meow” and “this team’s a real peach.”
