Cilantro Sold at SSP Knowlan's Potentially Tainted with Salmonella
Consumers who purchased cilantro bundles in South St. Paul between July 26 and Aug. 6 should either dispose of the herb or return it to the grocery store for a refund.
Cilantro sold at Knowlan's Food Market in South St. Paul could potentially be contaminated with Salmonella, according to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA).
Routine testing by the MDA found Salmonella lurking in fresh cilantro bunches sold to retail stores in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan between July 26 and Aug. 6. A full list of stores that sold potentially affected cilantro is available online.
Stores that purchased the cilantro have been notified by the MDA to remove the product from their shelves, with the advisory only applying to cilantro shipped to the stores within the aforementioned timeframe.

Consumers who may have purchased the impacted cilantro bundles are advised to not consume them and to either throw them out or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
While no confirmed illnesses have been reported in association with this cilantro, the MDA encourages anyone who believes they might have become ill with Salmonella to seek medical attention.

Symptoms of Salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever and abdominal pain. The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.
