An unbelted 80-year-old woman from Cottage Grove died after driving south in the northbound lanes of Highway 52, according to authorities.
A major stretch of Interstate 494 will be shut down in both directions this weekend as crews demolish ramps and begin bridge work over.
The crash happened just before 4:30 a.m. Monday morning.
Fifth Weekend Directional Closures of Hwy 52 begins May 21.
Beginning 8 a.m. Monday, March 29 through 4 p.m. Friday, April 9, the ramp from NB Hwy 52 to 70th St. will be closed for noise wall repair.
The Safety Audit is anticipated to be complete in summer 2021.
Access for residents will remain open.
The fatal crash happened just before 8 a.m. on Highway 55 Monday.
The project will aim to improve drainage, construct noise walls, construct auxiliary lanes, and more.
Westbound I-494 will be a single lane between Bailey Road and 7th Avenue as crews begin placing a barrier for a traffic switch.
Troopers are currently working to reopen the highway.
This work is part of a summer-long project to add turn lanes, reconstruct a Rich Valley Boulevard intersection and resurface Highway 3.
