Gorgeous Weekend Includes Beach Bash for Kids at the Grove

Inver Grove Heights residents can get a jump on the weekend this afternoon with the farmer's market, while Saturday's bash at the Grove is for little swimmers.

A picture perfect weekend in and around Inver Grove Heights can start for IHigh residents tonight at the community center.

First, the St. Paul Farmer’s Market comes back to town from 3 to 6 p.m. with its weekly stint in the Veterans’ Memorial parking lot.

Produce is nearing its peak season (it’s a couple weeks behind this year after a cold June), so there will be plenty of veggies and fruits on tap, including sweet corn, green onions, radishes, and maybe even a squash or two.

Then, on Saturday, come back down to the Grove with the little tikes.

The Itty Bitty Beach Party is set for 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Grove, where the waterworks will be turned on and there will be plenty of toys for toddlers. The event is geared for children 5 and under, but the whole family can enjoy for just under $20 (four people).

Sunday at the pool is “Dairy Queen Day,” so the first 100 swimmers will get a certificate/coupon to DQ for a treat.

This weekend is going to be picture perfect for getting outside, with highs in the upper 70s to 80 and lows right around 60.

That means there’s a good chance you can hop out onto Inver Hills Golf Club and tee one up, as we’ve reached the peak of golf season.

The courses are in perfect shape, and golf is still under 40 bucks on the weekend ($30 if you play hooky on Friday – you have my permission) for non-patrons.

Tee times can be made here, thanks to TeeItUp.com.
