Spartans Lacrosse Downed By Holy Family Despite Gutsy Second Half
After giving up just two goals in the first quarter, Simley gave up seven in the second, leading to a 9-3 halftime deficit.
Two goals apiece from junior Kellen Asmundson and sophomore Zach Aten wasn't enough to lift the Spartans boys lacrosse team to victory over Holy Family Catholic High School Monday night.
Falling 16-6 in front of a , the Spartans struggled to keep pace with the Holy Family juggernaut despite flashes of brilliance in the first, third and fourth quarters.
Three-year head coach Garnet Asmundson chalked up the loss to his team's lack of experience.

"We as coaches and players have to base our success on smaller victories besides winning and losing," Asmundson said. "There are only six returning players from last year's team. On top of being young, we're quite inexperienced and it shows at times."
Asmundson continued: "(Lacrosse) is a skill game and if your skills are limited, it's going to show. Unfortunately, that was reflected today."

"My request to (the team) at halftime was to battle in the second half. I think they did a much better job in the third and fourth quarters," Asmundson said. "The kids didn't quit and they worked hard."
Holy Family got hat tricks from seniors Tanner Steen and Michael Roane and junior Max Mork.
The Spartans are facing back-to-back games Friday and Saturday and play another three games next week.
