Inver Grove Heights Police: Facebook Reports of Abduction Attempts are Misleading

A pair of door-to-door peddlers set off alarms locally, and rumors spread quickly via social media. The IGH Police is attempting to put those rumors to rest.

Inver Grove Police Department officers are thanking the public for their diligence, but said the women trotting out attempting to sell books door-to-door in Inver Grove Heights neighborhoods bear no threat to the public.

Inver Grove Heights Patch asked users earlier this week via Facebook if they had heard or seen the reports. Several commenters said the women, who had Eastern European accents, had come to their homes. Some said it was a hoax. Others said the sales pitch made them uneasy.

Either way, folks here have nothing to fear, according to a KARE 11 report

The report said Police said that the two women selling the books have been issued the proper permits. Both women are employed by called Southwestern Advantage and hit the bricks to pay for college costs.
