Man, Dog Dead In Inver Grove Heights Fire

The fire appears to be accidental, according to fire officials.

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MN — A man and dog were both found dead in a structure fire Monday in Inver Grove Heights, the city's fire department shared in a news release.

Inver Grove Heights Fire Department said it responded to the fire at 7:30 a.m. Monday morning off of Dickson Avenue. Information from the Dispatch Center said a man and dog were possibly inside the building, with fire and smoke coming from a window, fire officials said.

When the crew arrived, they saw light fire but heavy amounts of smoke in the residence and went in to search for potential victims, fire officials said. A neighbor told them that multiple people lived at the residence but he wasn't sure who was home, fire officials said.

Another crew showed up to join the search and they found the man and dog, both deceased, fire officials said. No other victims were found, according to fire officials.

The fire department said the fire appears to be accidental and an investigation is being done by the Inver Grove Heights Fire Marshal and the Minnesota State Fire Investigator.
