The Inver Grove Heights HEAT Soccer Team—which is composed of current and former players—beat Winona in a shootout Sunday afternoon to win the MYSA Under-19 State Championship in Coon Rapids.
Having played 120 minutes to a 2-2 tie, the teams went to a penalty shootout where HEAT goalkeeper Joel Hostager made a diving save on a shot from Winona's top scorer to pave the way for Moises Rodriguez's game-winning goal.
Hundreds of soccer players compete on HEAT teams each summer and fall, ranging from 4- and 5-year-olds up to U19s.
