Body of Long Lake Man Recovered from Lake Independence
Victim's identity has not been released.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office has recovered the body of an apparent drowning victim from Lake Independence.
The victim, a man in his 60s, had been missing since yesterday morning. Multiple law enforcement agencies had been conducting a search since responding to the incident.
A combined sonar/diver search was underway when a diver located the body in six and a half feet of murky water near the dock at the Baker Park boat launch on the southwest side of the lake.
On Thursday, June 7, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Three Rivers Park Police regarding a fishing boat found adrift on Lake Independence. It was learned that an adult male in his 60s from Long Lake had gone out fishing earlier that morning and did not return home.
The drifting boat was confirmed to be the property of the missing man.
The Three Rivers Park Police Department and the Medina Police Department assisted the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office with the recovery.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the victim.
