Council meetings to return to in-person beginning on Feb. 28

The city council voted to once again conduct city council meetings and study sessions in person beginning with the regular council meeting on Monday, February 28. This does not affect how other boards and commissions conduct their meetings, only those of the city council.

Council receives report on energy conservation & rebates for public safety facility

The city council received an informational report on the energy conservation strategies implemented during the construction of the police and fire facility, in addition to the incentives and rebates offered by Xcel Energy and CenterPoint Energy. These strategies and incentives will allow the city to reduce energy consumption at the facility and operate at minimal levels.

Council awards Cast-In-Place Concrete contract for Ridgedale Commons

The city council awarded the Cast-Place-Concrete contract for the Ridgedale Commons Park project to Curb Masters, in the amount of $622,000. The project is estimated to be completed by the end of 2022.

Council approves contract to assist with the recruitment of a city manager

The city council approved the contract with GovHR USA, LLC to assist with the recruitment of a city manager. Per the proposed timeline, the process would begin on Feb. 8 and be completed in July, at which time the new city manager would commence their employment.

Council approves agreement with the Municipal Legislative Commission

The city council approved the updated joint and cooperative agreement that governs the Municipal Legislative Commission. The City of Minnetonka is a member of the commission, and has been since 1984. The other 18 members are suburban communities sharing common demographic, economic, and tax base characteristics.

Council adopts resolution supporting housing and local decision-making authority

The city council adopted a resolution supporting housing and local decision-making authority. The language of the resolution was provided by the League of Minnesota Cities, in response to concerns and feedback from housing industry groups.

Council approves the 2022 study session work plan

The city council approved the 2022 study session work plan schedule, beginning with the Feb. 14 study session. This document is flexible, and can still be changed throughout the year to adapt to the priorities of the council.
