Letter to the editor: Animal Hospital Does Not Supply Kittens

Vet makes clear distinctions in reaction to Patch story earlier this month.

To the editor:

Hello.

I am the owner of Excelsior Animal Hospital, Inc. in Excelsior and wish to submit some important corrections to an article that appeared on the Lake Minnetonka Patch on  March 8, 2012.

There was an article written by Andrea Parrott about Noahs Ark Fish and Pet in Excelsior. In it, owner Gary Cocking suggested and Andrea Parrott reported that Gary Cocking "receives the kittens from Excelsior Animal Hospital."

We in no way shape or form supply kittens to the pet store!

They are donated or found and turned into the pet store owners for eventual resale. What we at Excelsior Animal Hospital do is a pre-purchase examination and initial vaccination/lab testing required by the Minnesota Pet Lemon Law of all retail animal sellers.

This is an important distinction to be made because many of the kittens are in poor health when we see them initially and as owner/veterinarian of Excelsior Animal Hospital I do not wish it to be implied that I supply these kittens to Noahs Ark Fish and Pet Supply.

Thank you for your cooperation.
