Minnetonka Class of 1979 40th Reunion Offers Series of Events

Bellbottoms, tube tops, sun tanning with baby oil, and riding bikes without helmets will be among the topics of conversation as members of the Minnetonka High School Class of 1979 come together over two days of fun activities planned to celebrate the class’s 40th reunion, August 16-17.

The main reunion day, Saturday August 17, kicks off with a 40th Reunion Golf Outing at Pioneer Creek Golf Course, 705 Copeland Road, Maple Plain. Classmates can enjoy a fun round of golf while catching up on memories, and competing for prizes. The modified shotgun start begins at 8:00 am, followed by a casual lunch, group photo and award ceremony. Participants can sign up individually or as a foursome. On Saturday starting at 9:00 am, tours of the Minnetonka High School campus offer a trip down memory lane, with a chance to visit old hangouts, and see everything that’s changed since walking the halls over 40 years ago. Registration for free tickets is available via the classes’ Eventbrite site.

The highlight of the weekend is the 40th Reunion Party at the Lafayette Club, 2800 Northview Road, Minnetonka Beach on Saturday starting at 6:30 pm, featuring a dinner hors d'oeuvres buffet, music, cash bar, a blast-from-the-past photo show, and memories to last a lifetime.

The day before the reunion, Friday, August 16, festivities kick off with an informal Happy Hour beginning at 5:00 on the outdoor patio at Maynards, 685 Excelsior Boulevard, Excelsior (or inside in case of rain). No RSVP is required.
