Photos and Video: Meet Wayzata's Newest Police Officer

Dustin Edberg has served as a reserve officer since 2006.

Wayzata's newest police officer was sworn in Tuesday night.

Dustin Edberg has worked loss prevention for both Target and most recently Bloomingdales, and has received numerous performance awards. Additionally, with five years as a reserve officer under his belt, Wayzata Police Chief Mike Risvold said officer Edberg comes to the city's force as a "known commodity."

"This is a decision you don't want to get wrong, it's a career decision and a decison on behalf of the City of Wayzata," Chief Risvold said.

Edberg worked five days a week but still found time to volunteer eight hours on his days off. Last year he volunteered 300 hours in service to the City of Wayzata.

Chief Risvold praised Edberg's committment to service, calling him an "upstanding young man," and said he hopes Edberg enjoys a long career with the department until he chooses to retire.
