Westonka Future Stars Win Buffalo Tournament

The Mound Westonka fourth grade girl’s basketball team won the Buffalo Classic tournament on Feb. 12.

The White Hawk girls opened the tournament with a decisive 16-7 win over a strong Big Lake team. After dropping their next game to St Cloud, the girls needed to win their game against Sartell for a tournament win.  

The youngest White Hawks came out slow against Sartell and were down 5-0 at the half. Their luck turned in the second half when they played great defense and made some key baskets to win the game 8-7 and take 1^st place.  

This was the second weekend in a row the girls battled for the tournament championship, having taken second place in their home White Hawk Tournament on Feb 4.
