Colin Lee Officially Files For House Run in Lakeville's District 58A

Lakeville's new Minnesota House district has another candidate for office.

Colin Lee, a software engineer from Lakeville filed for office today, officially entering the race to run for the Minnesota House of Representatives in Lakeville's new District 58A.

Lee will take on Republican incumbent Mary Liz Holberg who has despite being put into a different House district earlier this year .

In a statement, Lee said he's been a homeowner and resident in Lakeville for the past ten years, and is running to use his engineering mindset and troubleshooting skills to solve pressing problems at the State Capitol.

"Lakeville is a wonderful community in which to work, live, and raise a family. However, our state legislators failed us when they shut down government with their fanatical partisan antics," said Lee in a statement. "I want to work together with others to solve problems crucial to our community and its businesses like maintaining strong schools, making quality health care affordable, and repairing our roads and bridges."

As an engineer, Lee said he would apply his problem-solving skills to make jobs and the economy a top priority at the Capitol.

"When my opponent promised jobs, she voted against the Angel Tax Credit and instead focused on policing our bedrooms," Lee said. "When she chaired the budget committee last session, she missed key budget deadlines to pass divisive amendments and she shut down our state government. With your vote, I promise to reboot government and make it work for you."

This is the third time Lee will face Holberg for state office.

Lee has been very active in his community, volunteering with the Lakeville Lions, Lakeville Friends of the Environment, Feed My Starving Children, and Project Homeless Connect among others. He often contributes websites and technology work to local nonprofits.

Lee said he looked forward to meeting Lakeville voters at their doors in the coming months.

"I will work hard to earn the trust and support of Lakeville," he said. "I look forward to learning about your hopes and dreams and how they could be better served by new ideas at the Saint Paul Capitol. With your support, we have brighter days ahead."
