Lakeville's Senior Center Fees to Double
With Lakeville's Senior Center looking to move into the under-renovation Heritage Center, annual fees are set to double to help offset construction costs with the project.

will soon have a new home. But it comes with a cost: the City Council approved a plan on Monday to double annual fees for senior center members as the city looks to generate revenue to cover construciton costs for the .
Under the approved plan, which goes into effect immediately, resident single members will now pay $18 a year, doubled from $9; resident couples will pay $34, more than doubling the previous $15 fee; and non-residents will pay $30, up from $15.
According to city documents, city staff decided to increase the fees following a survey to determine what dollar amount members would be comfortable paying for the services provided by the senior center.

City Administrator Steve Mielke said if annual fees are too expensive for individuals, the city has a fund to assist people with their costs.
The measure was approved 5-0 with approval the the City Council's consent agenda.

The Heritage Center is the new name given to the city’s vacant police station on Holyoke Avenue across from City Hall. The $1.12 million renovation project will create a shared-use facility that will house the senior center, historical society and Yellow Ribbon organizations.
