'We Are Heartbroken': Lakeville Schools React To Texas School Shooting
The Lakeville Public Schools community is reacting to the deadly mass shooting Tuesday at a Texas elementary school.

LAKEVILLE, MN — Parents, children, teachers, and other staff in the Lakeville Public Schools community are reacting to the deadly mass shooting Tuesday at a Texas elementary school.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed to multiple outlets, including The New York Times, that 19 children and two adults were killed at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde.
The gunman was also killed in the shooting.

"Earlier today, our country watched as another horrific school shooting unfolded in our country, this time in the community of Uvalde, Texas. We are heartbroken over the reality that innocent lives were victims of such senseless and tragic violence at Robb Elementary School," the district wrote.
"Lakeville Area Schools extends its deepest condolences to the families who grieve this loss and to the entire Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District community impacted by today’s devastating incident."

Earlier today, our country watched as another horrific school shooting unfolded in our country, this time in the community of Uvalde, Texas. We are heartbroken over the reality that innocent lives were victims of such senseless and tragic violence at Robb Elementary School. Lakeville Area Schools extends its deepest condolences to the families who grieve this loss and to the entire Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District community impacted by today’s devastating incident.
We want to assure you that the safety of our students, staff and community is our top priority. If you or your student has a concern regarding school safety you are always encouraged to report it immediately to your school’s administration or through our Anonymous Reporting Platform (P3). The anonymous reporting link can be found on the main webpage of your student’s school.
We must acknowledge the pain tragedies like this can cause and we stand ready to support each and every member of our school community. We know our students process these incidents uniquely, and we emailed parents a resource for talking with their children about such incidents earlier this evening.
We want to remind you that our school staff are ready to support students at any time. Our staff are committed to creating school environments that are safe, welcoming and inclusive of all students. If your student is in need of support, please contact your child’s school and our staff will connect you with resources and support.
It takes everyone in our community to stand together against such senseless acts that have taken the lives of so many across our Nation.
Other Minnesota officials and lawmakers reacted to the mass shooting in Uvalde.
"Beyond heartbroken over the horrific tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Texas," Democrat Sen. Amy Klobuchar said. "It has been nearly a decade since Sandy Hook and gun safety legislation has been repeatedly blocked. Unconscionable."
"Jacquie and I are absolutely heartbroken to hear about the tragedy unfolding in Uvalde," wrote Republican Rep. Tom Emmer. "Praying for the entire Robb Elementary community and the families of those lost in today's senseless act of violence."
"I am watching the news coming out of Texas in horror," wrote Democrat Gov. Tim Walz. "This cannot continue. Minnesota grieves with the parents and families of every child who was shot and killed in Uvalde today."
"Horrific news. No words," said Democrat Sen. Tina Smith. "The blockade of gun safety bills has caused an untold number of unnecessary deaths in this country."
"This is every parent’s worst nightmare. I’m sickened and heartbroken by this terrible news," wrote Democrat Rep. Angie Craig.
"But I’m also angry. We don't have to live in a country where murdering elementary school children results in a lot of thoughts and prayers but no real action."
