Hwy 62, I-35E Chase Ends In Mendota Heights Crash, Arrest Of Shooting Suspect
Officers say the Richfield man led police across multiple highways before crashing near Highway 13 and fleeing on foot.

SHAKOPEE, MN β A 40-year-old man was shot early Saturday in Shakopee, and the suspect was arrested later that night after a multi-city pursuit that ended in a crash in Mendota Heights, according to police.
Shakopee police said officers responded to a weapons complaint at about 3:13 a.m. Saturday on Grove Drive. They found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to HCMC with life-threatening injuries and initially listed in critical condition. He is expected to survive.
On Saturday night, officers located the suspect, Dejon Paul Brown, of Richfield, and a pursuit began, according to Shakopee police.

The chase traveled across the Mendota Bridge on Highway 62 and continued onto northbound Interstate 35E, Mendota Heights police said.
The suspect vehicle later crashed in the area of Highway 13 in Mendota Heights. Three people fled on foot, but officers from several jurisdictions quickly established a perimeter and arrested all three individuals. Brown was booked into the Scott County Jail.

Investigators said they did not believe the shooting was random, and there was no danger to the surrounding neighborhood. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension assisted with processing the crime scene.
Police said the investigation remains active, and no further information will be released at this time.
