City Announces Program To Stop Catalytic Converter Theft

Mendota Heights announced a partnership that will work to ID catalytic converters on vehicles deemed most at risk for theft.

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN β€” The city of Mendota Heights recently announced a new Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention Program.

The program is a partnership between Mendota Heights Police Department, Mendota Heights Auto Service and Minnesota Commerce Department, the city said.

The program puts an identifying number on the catalytic converters of vehicles deemed to be "most at risk" of catalytic converter theft, the city said. Once a vehicle has an ID on its catalytic converter, it can be tracked by police in the case of theft, the city said.
