Craig Requests $3.1M For West St. Paul Road Alignment Project

The project will re-align the intersection of Smith Avenue and Dodd Road

WEST ST. PAUL, MN — U.S. Representative Angie Craig announced that she has requested $3.1 million for West St. Paul's Smith Avenue and Dodd Road Realignment Project.

The request was through the Community Project Funding Fiscal Year 2023 Appropriations process, where Congress members can request funds for 15 projects in their district that would benefit public good, Craig said.

“I’m proud to announce my submission for West St. Paul to receive federal support for this important project,” Craig said. “Realigning Smith Avenue and Dodd Road will not only make it a safer intersection for our drivers, bikers and pedestrians – but would also bring 900 construction jobs to our district while honoring Officer Scott Patrick’s sacrifice in the line of duty.”

The project will re-align the intersection of Smith Avenue and Dodd Road, Craig said. The project would create a space for gatherings and also create a memorial for Mendota Heights Police Officer, Scott Patrick, who was killed at this intersection in the line of duty, according to Craig.

“The Smith/Dodd realignment project is an amazing opportunity to redevelop and enhance an important part of West St. Paul. The project will increase safety at a busy intersection, create open space for the entire region to enjoy, and provide a place for people to remember the sacrifice of Mendota Heights Police Officer Scott Patrick who lost his life at the intersection in the line of duty,” said West St. Paul Mayor Dave Napier. “In addition - we expect the potential for over 700 new jobs and up to $100 million in new development including housing, retail and dining options - the City of West St Paul thanks Representative Craig for her support on this visionary project.”
