Dakota Electric Awards Scholarships To 3 Mendota Heights Students

101 total students in the county received scholarships.

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN — Dakota Electric Association recently announced that it awarded $160,000 in scholarships to 101 students in Dakota County.

The following students from Henry Sibley High School, recently renamed to Two Rivers High School, received scholarships this year:

  • Angel Hernandez Lopez
  • Miles Hill
  • Erin Winkelhake

Dakota Electric has donated $1,819,495 in scholarships since 1990, the association said.

“We are pleased to be able to help our local students this way,” Dakota Electric’s President and CEO Greg Miller said. “As a not-for-profit electric cooperative, Dakota Electric is proud to provide these scholarships from unclaimed capital credits as an investment in the future of our local youth.”

The money for the scholarships comes from unclaimed patronage capital, or known as capital credits, the association said.
