Pilot Knob is recognized as a sacred site by Native American culture and carries historic significance as the place where the Treaty of 1851 was signed. The site is being restored to natural oak savanna.
The grant money would pay for removal of utility lines that cross the property.

The site with the most votes will have their full grant request fulfilled by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express. Pilot Knob planners are requesting $125,000.
