Mendota Heights Homicide Suspect Identified

An hours long situation unfolded Saturday in Mendota Heights that left one woman dead. The alleged killer is said to be at large.

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN — A woman was found dead inside a building in Mendota Heights Saturday and authorities believe the person responsible is the armed robbery suspect for whom police have been searching, according to multiple reports.

MPR News reports that police believe the man has since fled the area. The woman was reportedly found dead in a commercial building.

Earlier in the day, police in Mendota Heights warned residents of a "dynamic situation" near Plaza Drive but did not provide any more details.

Residents were asked to avoid the area. WCCO reports that police are searching for an armed robbery suspect who was fleeing police when he crashed into a pond and then ran into an apartment building.

The man was identified as Vincent Lucifer Nguyen, 44. Police believe Nguyen is armed and dangerous though he is no longer believed to be in the area.

Anyone who might know of Nguyen's whereabouts is asked to call the Dakota County Sheriff's office at 651-322-2323.

KTSP reports there is a large police presence near the intersection of Dodd Road and Plaza Drive.
