Osseo Area Schools ISD 279: Maple Grove Senior High Student Avery Ruegsegger Takes Home Two Gold Medals For The U.S. Wakeboard Team

Besides the overall team gold medal, seven U.S. wakeboard athletes won medals, including five gold, in respective divisions.

Maple Grove Senior High School sophomore Avery Ruegsegger took home two gold medals at the IWWF Pan American Wakeboard Championships, Nov. 12-13, at Club Ski Del Polo in El Marques, Queretaro, Mexico.

Ruegsegger, the only representative from Minnesota on the U.S. Wakeboard team, contributed to help the team win the gold medal with a total of 685 points.

Besides the overall team gold medal, seven U.S. wakeboard athletes won medals, including five gold, in respective divisions. Divisions of competition were U14 Boys/Girls, Junior (U18) Men/Women, Masters (Over 30) Men/Women, Veteran (Over 40) Men/Women and Open Men/Women. Athletes were scored on execution, intensity and composition.

Ruegsegger won the gold medal in the Junior Women division with 70 points, 10 points more than the next competitor. She earned a 23.31 in execution, 23.38 in intensity and 23.31 in composition.
