Positivity, good vibes, and diligent work has led the Park Center cheer team to win a regional championship and the MCCA State Cheer Competition for Game Day Non-Tumbling Division. Now, the team is headed to Orlando, Florida to take on nationals.

In practice, these 18 energetic students work on their cheerleading skills but consider themselves cheerleaders for each other. At a preview for friends and family, the team hyped each other up, celebrated their outstanding season, and prepared for the upcoming loss of their 11 graduating seniors.

“We put in a lot of work, and we haven't gone to nationals since 2020. We put our time into it, and we earned it,” said Sadie Wren, one of the graduating seniors.

After three years of involvement in the cheer team, Wren has developed strong leadership characteristics, but she also described how being a part of the cheer team helped her to practice kindness to her peers.

“At the beginning of the year, we had to sign a contract that said we would be kind and not post things on social media that could harm our image or our group and I think that really helped me to be kind,” she added.

What may have started as a contract is now a part of who she and the rest of her teammates have become. Each member demonstrates an energy that resonates with their audience, and this attitude is sure to lead them to a great outcome at nationals.

The Park Center cheer team will have a chance to compete for a title at the National High School Cheerleading championships at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort from Feb. 11-14.
