Two Rivers Senior Diver Zach Lao Finishes 7th In State Finals
Sophomore Finn Gustafson and two relays also scored for the Warriors, who finished 21st in Class A last weekend in Minneapolis.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN —Two Rivers High School senior Zach Lao scored a 378.05 to finish seventh in diving at the 2022 MSHSL Boys A Swim and Dive Championships held last weekend at University of Minnesota's Jean K Freeman Aquatic Center.
Lao's performance earned him All-State honors and 12 team points, helping the Warriors (25 points) to a 21st-place finish at the event, which took place March 3-5.
The state meet was won by Breck/Blake, which captured its sixth-straight title with a state-meet record score of 495.5. Alexandria Area (203) was a distant second.

Lao actually sat in 12th place (238.85) after the competition's semifinals, before moving up five spots thanks to his three-dive performance in the finals. Leo earned a medal for finishing seventh.
Also at state, Two Rivers sophomore Finn Gustafson finished 16th in the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.28), earning a point, and 18th 100 freestyle (49.88).

The Warriors' 200-free relay team of junior George Altier, senior Carl Strohoffer, sophomore Jack Dahlager and Gustafson came in 14th (1:31.31), earning six points.
The same group came in 14th in the 400-free relay (3:23.65), which also earned six points.
