KARE 11 Sports Director Signs Off After Job Is Eliminated

He delivered his final broadcast on Dec. 31 after announcing his position at the station was being eliminated.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — KARE 11 Sports Director Reggie Wilson signed off for the final time on Dec. 31, marking the end of a four-year run at the Twin Cities television station.

Wilson had announced his departure days earlier on social media, saying his position at the station was being eliminated.

"This is my last night here at KARE 11, and I end with gratitude," Wilson said during his final broadcast. "Four years ago, KARE gave this hungry, eager journalist a dream opportunity, and I’m thankful I got a chance to talk sports at a station I long admired."

Wilson said he covered sports "at the highest level" during his time as sports director and reflected on the many stories and relationships that came with the role.

"I never took a day for granted and always understood the responsibility I had."

"So I just want to say thank you," he said. "Hope you enjoyed me as much as I enjoyed serving you. It’s been a lot of fun. I’ll catch you down the road."

Wilson said on social media that he does not yet know what is next, but that he trusts God to guide him into the next chapter.

Wilson joined KARE 11 in 2021 after spending two years covering Cincinnati sports and previously working as a sports anchor and reporter in Dayton, Ohio, according to his station bio.

He began his career as a news photojournalist in Wichita, Kansas, before moving into sports coverage in Dodge City, Kansas.

A native of the St. Louis area, Wilson is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
