MINNEAPOLIS — A Mexican national is accused of coming back into the U.S. after he was deported over an aggravated felony.
In 2018, Jonathan Chavez-Galarza, 27, was convicted in Hennepin County of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
Chavez-Galarza stabbed a man after an argument in a Minneapolis apartment building, causing serious injury. He was sentenced to a year and a day in prison, plus fines.

Chavez-Galarza still owes the state $1,555.66 in that case, court records show.
The indictment this week charges Chavez-Galarza with one count of reentry of removed alien after an aggravated felony. He made his initial appearance on Aug. 14.
