Designed by Hagen, Christensen, and McIlwain, the $1.3 million dollar project replaces the original clubhouse built in 1925. That clubhouse was closed due to irreparable damage from a water pipe break during the winter of 2015-16.

At 1,500 square feet, the modest new facility is clad in a mix of glazing, metal panel, and painted cement board lap siding. The small scale of the building will allow it to blend into the tree canopy and provide long views to the north and east looking out over the golf course.

The building utilizes triple pane windows to maximize heating and cooling efficiency. The clubhouse will have two all-gender restrooms, a small office, a large open gathering space with a point-of-sale counter, and a simple maintenance and storage space.

The new clubhouse sits atop a hill, slightly to the west from the original clubhouse location. A new accessible path from the parking lot to the clubhouse will be created as part of this project, in addition to stormwater management solutions and landscaping features around the building.

Generous outdoor patios will offer visitors a place to relax before or after a round of golf. Food vendors will continue selling food and beverages at a dedicated patio space. An open turf space where the original clubhouse once stood will be used to place a large tent for golfing events.

Since 2017, the MPRB has been operating the Meadowbrook Golf Course from a temporary clubhouse structure, which is allowed by a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) issued by the City of Hopkins. The CUP has an expiration date of November 1, 2021.

Construction is scheduled to begin later this month, pending approval by the City of Minneapolis Purchasing Division and Department of Civil Rights.
