TWIN CITIES, MN — The Twin Cities metro is in for a wild weather swing this weekend, with unseasonably warm temperatures giving way to severe storms and a sudden cold snap.

Friday’s high will soar to 76 degrees, but by evening, strong to severe thunderstorms could develop, bringing damaging winds and hail—especially south of the metro.

Rain will continue into Saturday before changing to snow as temperatures plummet, falling to 40 degrees by the afternoon and 22 degrees overnight. While snowfall will be minimal, gusty northwest winds up to 35 mph could create hazardous travel conditions, with wet roads freezing by Saturday night.
