Man hospitalized after crashing into tree in north Minneapolis (kstp.com) — A driver suffered life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning after crashing into a tree near Washburn and 43rd Avenue North in north Minneapolis, where officers found him unconscious and trapped in his vehicle. Minneapolis police are also investigating reports that the same car was involved in a prior hit-and-run about 30 minutes earlier near 40th and Girard Avenues North, and are still working to determine what led to the crash.
   

2. Teen arrested in connection with shooting that injured 3 aboard Metro Transit bus (kstp.com) — A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with last week’s shooting that injured three people aboard a Metro Transit bus in north Minneapolis near North 36th and Penn avenues. Two victims remain hospitalized in stable condition, but all are expected to survive. Metro Transit Police say surveillance video helped track the suspect and stress that rider safety remains their top priority.
   

3. There's gold in that there river, say Minnesota treasure hunters (factpatrol.com) — If you’ve spotted people crouched by the Mississippi in Minneapolis, they might be hobby prospectors chasing tiny flecks of glacial gold rather than riches. Local hunters, including a Minneapolis retiree and a popular YouTuber, say the real payoff isn’t money but the thrill of finding specks of treasure in our own backyard.

For Minneapolis residents, the memo highlights how Trump-era immigration crackdowns like “Operation Metro Surge” are prompting city leaders in Minneapolis and St. Paul to tighten rules on when local police work with federal agents.
