Severe Storms Possible Thursday, Pleasant Weekend Ahead: MN Weather

TWIN CITIES, MN — Potentially severe thunderstorms are forecasted to develop Thursday afternoon in western Minnesota and move into the Twin Cities metro early Thursday evening.

Following Thursday's storms, the National Weather Service predicts it will be a quiet and pleasant Labor Day weekend.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Southeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 11pm. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Low around 62. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday: Partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 79. West northwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Friday Night: Clear, with a low around 60. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 83. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 60. West southwest wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north northwest after midnight.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 73. North wind around 10 mph.

Sunday Night: Clear, with a low around 54. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the evening.
