Chanhassen, Minnesota – the Southwest Metro Chamber of Commerce Foundation is pleased to announce the new 5K for Education. The 5K for Education is a new event being hosted by the scholarship committee of the Foundation to raise money and awareness for the scholarship fund.
The Foundation began with volunteers from the Chanhassen Chamber of Commerce two decades ago and has been carried on by a volunteer committee within the SouthWest Metro Chamber of Commerce. To date, the foundation has awarded more than $60,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors.
In an effort to step up our fundraising and raise awareness of our scholarships, the Foundation committee came up with the idea of a family-friendly 5K. The event, chaired by Heidi Keyho from the Minnesota School of stated “We want to make this race about families so we encourage you to bring the kids and get your Saturday morning started right with a great walk.” “We will have a separate start time for the serious runners and those who want to just walk and enjoy the day. Bring your children, strollers, dogs – all are welcome!”
