Minnetonka’s 2012 season ended in heartbreak with a first round loss in the state tournament, while Hopkins fell to Minnetonka in the first round of the section 6 AAAAAA playoffs.
But whether you’re a fan of the Skippers or Royals the recently released football schedules mean it’s time to get excited again. Both seasons kick off—pun intended—on Aug. 23.
So get out your Royals wear or Tonka Pride gear. The season is about to start.

Minnetonka grad becomes college admission counselor: Andrew Virnig, who graduated from Minnetonka High School as an AP Scholar, started work in mid-July as an admission counselor at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, VT, the college announced. Virnig graduated from Saint Michael’s College in 2013 with a degree in psychology and will be a recruiter for the college in Minnesota.

New bus route provides service to Ridgedale: Metro Transit is starting a new route that will carry riders from southwest Minnetonka to the Ridgedale area. Locations served include the Minnetonka Heights apartments, Minnetonka Library, the 7-Hi shopping center, the Minnetonka Boulevard and County Road 101 retail area, Minnetonka City Hall, Minnetonka Mills Park/Burwell House, Hennepin County Service Center and Library and Ridgedale Mall.
