Kids Can’t Sneak Tobacco Past Minnetonka Storeowners

The city did its annual tobacco compliance checks last week.

An underage buyer working for Minnetonka police tried to buy tobacco from 31 stores last week, but clerks were on their toes: None of the stores were willing to sell to the minor.

The attempted purchases were part of the city’s annual tobacco compliance checks—and this year, there were zero failures.

That’s better than at least the past three years. There were two failures out of 31 checks in 2011 and 2012 and two failures out of 33 checks in 2010.
