Man Charged with Felony After Reporting Order for Protection Violation

Police discovered Tracey Lee Brooks had a handgun, even though he had been convicted of a felony sex crime in North Dakota in 1993.

A 38-year-old Minnetonka man was charged with a felony after an incident that occurred May 30.

Tracey Lee Brooks was charged with one count of a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm on July 10.

On May 30, Minnetonka officers were dispatched to a home on Marion Lane West on a report of a violation of an order for protection.

On arrival, officers spoke to Brooks who stated he had an order for protection against his wife and that she was at the residence trying to leave with his child.

The female claimed she was simply trying to remove herself from the home before the situation escalated. She also told officers she hid a gun belonging to her husband and that he was prohibited from possessing a gun following a felony conviction in North Dakota.

Brooks allegedly admitted that he kept a .45 caliber handgun in his dresser, which officers confiscated as evidence. A review of the male’s criminal history found he was convicted of a felony sex crime in North Dakota in 1993.
