Man Tells Police He Thinks He Stole a Gun

An Eden Prairie man is charged with stealing a gun from a Minnetonka gun shop.
Timothy Daniel Gardner, 32, faces one count of felony theft of a firearm from the February incident.
Police say Gardner showed up at the one day in February and said he woke up in the morning at his home to find a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun in his bed. Police say Gardner told them he thought he had stolen it the day before from in Minnetonka.

The manager at Gunstop confirmed that they were missing the handgun. Surveillance video showed a man taking the weapon and leaving without paying for it.
Gardner allegedly told police he didn’t remember being at Gunstop at all and that medication he was taking made him have memory lapses. The explanation could not be confirmed by his doctor or father.

If convicted, Gardner faces up to 20 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.
