UPDATE: Watch for Severe Weather Beginning Tuesday Afternoon
Severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds are possible Tuesday afternoon and night. A tornado cannot be ruled out, according to the NWS.

The National Weather Service-Twin Cities is getting more specific on where severe weather could occur this evening, saying the highest risk area for a tornado will be confined to mainly along and north of Interstate 94. However, the severe threat overall will be great along and west of Interstate 35. After 7 p.m. and through the early morning hours is when they are predicting the severe weather could happen in the area.
A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been posted by the National Weather Service-Twin Cities for much of the Twin Cities area including Minnetonka and Hennepin County starting Tuesday, May 1, and extending through Sunday.
Tuesday brings the greatest risk for severe thunderstorms this week, according to the NWS. The forecast is calling for partly sunny skies and 77 degrees with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Showers and thunderstorms that could be severe are likely later in the afternoon and into Tuesday night before 1 a.m. New rainfall of between a quarter of an inch and an inch is expected.

It appears there will be sufficient instability and wind shear to support the development of severe thunderstorms with damaging winds before a cold front arrives, according to the NWS. A tornado cannot be ruled out. The area most likely to see severe weather is along and west of Interstate 35.
There will be several more bouts of showers and thunderstorms over the next few days. Isolated severe storms are possible again Wednesday and Thursday.
