Woodhill Plaza to Get Makeover

Owners of the office building, at Highway 7 and Williston Road, say occupancy has been low.

If the Minnetonka City Council and the city's Planning Commission give the go-ahead, a Highway 7 office building could soon be rehabbed into a mixed-use complex.

In plans for the makeover posted on the Minnetonka city website (PDF), building owner Hempel says the current structure has suffered a 30 percent vacancy rate "for some time." To attract more tenants, Hempel is asking the city to rezone the parcel from solely office space to mixed office and commercial zoning. They are also seeking city approval for a small addition in the rear of the building, to create a new entrance facing the parking lot and a new and bolder sign in front.

Pictures of the building as it currently stands are posted on Hempel's corporate Facebook page.

The building's owners are also planning a traffic study to examine how a change in the building's uses would impact the surrounding roads.

The project next goes before the city's Planning Commission on Aug. 1, from whence it will go before the City Council on Agu. 26
