70-Year-Old Man Airlifted After Motorcycle Accident

A 70-year-old man was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center Tuesday night after crashing his motorcycle near the near Interstate 35 and Highway 19 West.

The Rice County Sheriff's Office says the man, Vernon Ferguson, of Bloomington, was heading northbound on Bagley Avenue, signaled to turn into Flying J Travel Plaza and then the front wheel of his motorcycle hit a small gravel pothole and began to wobble.

Witnesses told the Sheriff's Office that Ferguson had difficulty correcting the front wheel and crashed into the pavement. 

The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. An investigation of the crash is ongoing.
