Bill Lamberty, 76

Bill Lamberty, age 76 of rural Northfield, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at his home following a long battle with cancer. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Friday, December 30th at the Church of St. Dominic in Northfield. Visitation will be Thursday 3-7:00 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and at the Church on Friday 1 hour prior to Services.

William Joseph Lamberty was born in a farmhouse August 19, 1935, son of Roman and Mabel (Estrem) Lamberty. Bill attended Rosary School at St. Dominic and then Northfield High School graduating in 1953.

He began a successful trucking business and then a milk route and on April 24, 1956 he was united in marriage to Shirley Code at St. Dominic’s. In 1963 he pursued his dream and purchased a farm east of Northfield where he raised beef cattle, farmed and continued with his milk route. In 1969 he sold his milk route and in 1988 retired from beef cattle and continued farming. In 1980 Bill met Jan Emery who was his close companion for 30 years. Bill was a life time member of St. Dominic’s where he was a faithful usher for many years. He loved gardening and being with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. with Jan in their camper. His trips to Hawaii, Ireland and recently Walla Walla, WA were very memorable. Bill Lamberty is survived by son Mark (Tracey) Lamberty of Medina; companion Jan Emery of Northfield; granddaughters Heather (Andrew) Elvin and Alyssa Lamberty; siblings James Lamberty of Houston, TX, Paul (Leah) Lamberty of Elgin, IL, Mary (Millard) Hughes of Homewood, IL, Kathryn (Gerald) Brandon of Jacksonville, NC, Patricia (Rey) Imai of El Paso, TX, Sister Margaret Lamberty SSND of Hudson, WI, David (Nikki) Lamberty of Northfield, Veronica Otte and fiancée Mark Wilson of Northfield. He is also survived by Jan’s children Brian (Bernadette) Emery of Stanton, Terry (Tom) Johnson of Northfield, Jill Emery of Hermantown, Kurt (Michelle) Emery of Stanton, and Kay Egland of Dennison and Jan’s grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Shirley.

In lieu of flowers memorials to Northfield Hospice or to the family for distribution to his favorite charities will be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are by the Bierman Funeral Home of Northfield.
