Edward Joseph Horejsi, 83

Edward Joseph Horejsi was born March 7, 1928, on the family farm in Webster Township, Rice County, Minnesota, to Edward F. and Julia (Simek) Horejsi.  He was baptized at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Veseli and attended District 127 country school at Webster.  After his education he worked on the family farm.  He married Inez Esther Moravec on September 9, 1953, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale.  After marriage,  they took over the operation of the family farm.  After retirement in 1995, they moved to Northfield. For a few years Ed helped Dave Topp farm, and for five years he drove shuttle bus for Mystic Lake Casino.

Ed was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.  He was a longtime member and officer of the NFO and served on the Webster Co-op Board for several years.  He loved farming and was always on the look-out for more land.  He enjoyed old time music, dancing and Czech food.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Inez; 3 children: Ken of Webster, Kathy and husband Rick Jandro of Dundas, Marge and husband Pat Andre of Edina; 6 grandchildren: Chris Jandro and wife Jaclyne, Sarah Jandro and boyfriend Chad Kennedy, Adam and Dan Horejsi, Phil and Nick Andre; his sister, Martha Kajer of West Virginia; his sister-in-law, Jeanette Horejsi of New Prague; and other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandson Willie, his brother George, his sister in infancy Mary, and his parents.

Ed passed away with his wife and family by his side on Saturday afternoon, November 26, 2011, at Three Links Care Center in Northfield.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at the Church of St. Dominic in Northfield with Fr. Dennis Dempsey officiating.  Music will be provided by Alvin Chlan and Marlys Mouser.  Interment will be St. John’s Cemetery at Veseli.  Casket bearers will be his grandchildren: Chris Jandro, Sarah Jandro, Adam Horejsi, Dan Horejsi, Phil Andre, Nick Andre.  Honorary casket bearer Willie Horejsi.  Visitation will be 4-7PM Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield.  Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the funeral.
