Gerald “Jerry” Jones, 82

Gerald “Jerry” Jones, age 82 of Northfield, passed away Saturday November 19, 2011 at the N. C. Little Hospice House in Edina.

Jerry was born on June 18, 1929 in Wymore, NE to Robert and Alice (Hughes) Jones. He graduated from Wymore High School and attended the University of Nebraska. On August 21, 1949 he was united in marriage to VernaBell Peggie Mills in Beatrice, NE. They farmed south of Wymore before entering the Air Force in 1951. Jerry worked for FAA, retiring in 1986 from the Radar Control Center in Farmington, MN.

Jerry was an active member of the United Methodist Church, serving as Treasurer, on several church committees, taught Sunday School, choir member, and continued serving as an usher until his death. Jerry was a 50 year member of the Masons and the Order of the Eastern Star. Was Past Grand Patron of MN O.E.S. Grand Chapter General Grand Chapter Committee Member, Past High Priest Corinthian Chapter #33, RAM Past Grand Chaplain Royal Arch Mason of MN, Past Illus. Master, Northfield Council #12 R.S.M. Member of Commandry and Zuhrah Shrine, and a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason.

Jerry enjoyed woodworking, singing and square dancing.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, Nov 23rd at the Northfield United Methodist Church with burial at the Bethel Cemetery in Wymore, Nebraska with full military honors. Visitation will be 4-7:00 pm Tuesday at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield with Masonic and Eastern Star Services at 7pm.

Jerry is survived by his wife Peggie; daughters, Michele (Steve) Thompson of Richfield, Pat (Paul) Jondahl of Maplewood, son; Bob (Monica) Jones of Stillwater; grandchildren: Grandson Kent Thompson, Granddaughters Erin and Dana Jondahl; sisters Doris (Cork) Hall of Lincoln, NE and Wilma Keller of Beatrice, NE and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Blodwyn Jones and Ethel Armstrong, brother; Everett Jones.

In lieu of flowers memorials to Northfield Methodist Church or Masonic Cancer Hospital in Minneapolis.
