Jerry Seitz, 68

Jerry Seitz, age 68 of Northfield, passed away at his home Wednesday, December 28, 2011. Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, December 31st at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield with burial at the Northfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 1 hour prior to Services at the Bierman Funeral Home.

Gerald George Seitz was born March 25, 1943 in Northfield, MN, son of Walter and Ethel (Cole) Seitz. He was raised and attended school in Northfield and his first job was working at the Northfield News. He moved to Rochester when be began working at the Holiday Inn Express and in time became the head of housekeeping. Later he worked at the Rochester Post Bulletin until health issues caused him to retire.

For the next 7 years he volunteered at the Channel One Food Shelf in Rochester and recently moved to Valley View of Northfield where he met many new friends. He loved to go fishing, go for long walks, generous with his time and always willing to help when asked. He was a long time fan of Elvis Presley who he met in Las Vegas and had many of his albums which he played often. He will be remembered for his smile and laugh.

Jerry Seitz is survived by grandson Tim (Barbara) Guzman of Rochester; daughter-in-law Penny Guzman of Rochester; brother Carl (Kathy) Seitz of Las Vegas; sister Kathy Sutherland of Northfield; sister-in-law Eldora Seitz of Northfield; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Tim Seitz; sister Betty Fredrickson; brothers John and Robert Seitz.
