Phyllis Marjorie Lapham was born November 16, 1919, in rural Northfield, to George and Alma (Hisdahl) Lapham. She was raised on a farm near Carleton College to whom her family was an egg supplier. She attended Northfield Schools and after her education worked in the Tea Room at Carleton, spending her summers working at Grandview Lodge at Gull Lake. In 1946, she began working with the Northfield News in the mailing department, retiring in 1982, after 35 years of service.  Phyllis and her sister Glennis lived together in their family home, in a town home they purchased in Northfield and in the Northfield Manor where they moved in 1986. Together they enjoyed decorating their home and entertaining family. Phyllis loved her hometown, Carleton College and Northfield history. She enjoyed crafting, drawing and reading - political books being her favorite.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Yvonne Lapham of Rosemount; her nieces: Nancy (Bruce) Schulzetenberg of Eagan, Judy Tepley of East Sound, Washington, Susan Tepley of Phoenix; her nephew, Gerry (Sandy) Tepley of Prior Lake; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Glennis and Vivian, and her brother Roger.
