Red Cross Seeks Board Members

The Rice, Le Sueur, Waseca Counties Chapter of the American Red Cross is seekingvolunteers to serve on its Board of Directors. Interested individuals must live in Rice, Le Sueur, Waseca counties,and be able to attend meetings on the second Monday of even months (February, April, June, August, October,and December) from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. New board members will be elected in June for a term of three yearsbeginning July 1, 2011.

Chapter board members serve as volunteer leaders of the American Red Cross at the local level. Charteredby Congress as a single-entity corporation, the American Red Cross operates as a national network, with thechapters as local units of the corporation. The effectiveness of chapter boards directly affects the ability of theRed Cross to deliver essential services, raise funds, and represent the Red Cross in each community, and acrossthe chapter network. The role of chapter boards is to partner with and provide guidance to the chapter executivein developing and monitoring local strategies to deliver mission related services, raise funds in accordancewith the chapter goals, meet expense targets, and along with the Chapter executive partner, be recognized asthe “Face of the Red Cross” in their communities.

The ideal Board member is a passionate leader who desires to make an impact on their community. Boardmembers are ambassadors for the Red Cross, who can effectively connect the Red Cross with their community,harness the power of humanity to build a more resilient community, save lives and alleviate human suffering inthe face of emergencies. Board members are influential in the communities they serve; and represent the RedCross and its goals.
