Stanley Lasota was born July 30, 1919, in Lubenia, Poland, to Karzmierz and Zofia (Krupa) Lasota. He attended school to the 7th grade and after his education worked on the farm and as an apprentice blacksmith. In March 1940, he was forced to Germany to work as a farm laborer and lumberjack. Following the war he worked as a stone cutter and mechanic. In 1951, he came to the United States sponsored by a tobacco farm in Connecticut. After six months, he began working as an industrial plumber for Marlin-Rockwell in Plainville, Connecticut. He met Margaret “Peggy” Abramoske on a blind date and they were married on November 3, 1956, at St. Killian’s Catholic Church in Melville, Long Island. After marriage they lived primarily in Bristol, Connecticut, and Stanley continued working at Marlin-Rockwell, retiring in January 1982. In retirement he kept a big garden, raised honey bees, made sauerkraut, kielbasa, jelly and jam, and enjoyed woodworking. He was a jack of all trades and could fix or invent anything if need be. Peggy and Stanley moved to Northfield in May 2010. Peggy passed away on May 13th of this year after 54 years of marriage. They were longtime members of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Bristol.
