Dana Graham Files to Run for Northfield Mayor

Dana Graham, a financial adviser with Edward Jones Invesments, announced Monday that he is running for mayor of Northfield.

He joins Councilor Betsey Buckheit, who has also filed for . Mayor Mary Rossing has said she will not seek re-election.

Here is an email Graham sent to media Monday morning:

My name is Dana Graham. Today, I am announcing my candidacy for the office of Mayor of Northfield.  I'm running because I am unabashedly pro-Northfield. This campaign will be a positive one that is focused on the people of Northfield. How the discussions and decisions that are held at the council affect real people. Northfield's engaged citizenry makes us unique and I plan on tapping into that resource to make our government more efficient and effective.

I have over 30 years of business management experience as well as experience in city and county government. I was on the Northfield City Council from 2000-2004. I have also served on the Northfield Planning Commission, The Northfield Economic Development Authority, and I currently serve on the Rice County Planning Commission. Also, I have served on the Rice County United Way Board, a former Sertoman, and currently am on the Downtown Lakeville Business association and the Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce and their Ambassador Committee.

I am a financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments. I am also a husband and father to three wonderful boys. My wife, Marin Amundson-Graham, works in higher education. My oldest son, Scott, is a staff attorney for the Department of Human Services in St. Paul. Luke and Collin, 16 and 15 respectively, are high schoolers who will be very active in this campaign. We are members of in Northfield.

Filing for the 2012 municipal and county elections runs through 5 p.m. June 5.

Candidates can file an Affidavit of Candidacy with the city clerk at  801 Washington St.

• No one has filed for the Second Ward seat

• Commissioner Jake Gillen and Kathleen Doran-Norton  for the Rice County District 1 commissioner seat
