, Norm Butler, lease holder for 620 Water St. in the River Park Mall, told Patch that Carbone's was taking over the space, which was the home of the now shuttered .
But a spokesperson at Carbone's, which franchises out the restaurants, told Patch two weeks ago that a deal was still being negotiated and that there was nothing to report.
"Until it’s confirmed, it’s still up in the air," he said.
LaMotte Pizza Inc. is the company that registered for the Northfield liquor license. The Minnesota Secretary of State's website lists Scott LaMotte as the owner of LaMotte Pizza Inc. A call to LaMotte hasn't been returned.
According to a 2010 Star Tribune article, LaMotte, at least at that time, owned the Carbone's in Savage and had just become a partner for the Carbone's in Burnsville. It's unknown at this time if he's involved in any other Carbone's.
Butler said he believes the restaurant is scheduled to open in July.
Carbone's will join a long list of pizza options in Northfield, including , which opened last October. Carbone's also offers other items like burgers, pasta and hoagies.
There are 26 Carbone's in Minnesota; the closest is in Lakeville.
