NORTHFIELD, MN — Demolition of the historic Archer House in Northfield began Thursday, the city said.

Crews will be on-site this week to begin demolition, the city said.

The Archer House was heavily damaged by a fire in 2020, and the Heritage Preservation Commission approved a certificate of appropriateness for the demolition, the city said. Northfield later issued a demolition permit for the property, according to the city's website.

The city also told residents to drive cautiously, slow down when driving in work zones and to never enter a road blocked by barriers or cones.
